Sabrina Ewald is the Program Manager for K-12 Outreach for the Center for Subsurface Energy and the Environment (CSEE). Before joining CSEE, she spent 23 years in secondary science education teaching earth science and environmental science courses. She spent the past 18 years in Frisco ISD teaching AP Environmental Science, Earth and Space Science, Environmental Systems, and other elective science courses. She also served as a district curriculum writer for Earth and Space Science, Environmental Systems, and Astronomy. Sabrina is an AP Environmental Science Reader, a teacher workshop facilitator for Texas Mining and Reclamation Association, and previously worked for Duke University as an instructor for the Duke Talent Identification Program (TIP) summer residential program. In 2021, Sabrina was awarded the K-12 National Teacher of the Year Award from the AAPG Foundation and was honored at the annual AAPG conference in Denver, CO.
Sabrina brings a wealth of experience and knowledge working as a secondary science educator and curriculum developer. She uses her expertise to help develop classroom resources and content for Energy Excursions and teacher professional development opportunities. Her focus is creating an engaging and dynamic learning environment while exposing students to real-world connections and career opportunities.
Sabrina is currently the president of the South Central Section of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT), a member of the NAGT K-12 Ad Hoc Committee, and a member of the K-12 outreach committee for the Southwest Section of AAPG.
