Simple Concepts Competition

The annual Simple Concepts Competition is sponsored by the Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering (PGE) department and is open to all PGE students. This opportunity is aimed at broader dissemination of subsurface engineering concepts using simple demonstrations to the general public, with specific aims at whetting the interest of K-12 students.
The goal of this contest is to create simple, hands-on demonstrations that illustrate engineering science challenges encountered in managing subsurface resources, with a particular emphasis on topics related to energy and environmental sustainability.
These activities can be integrated into K–12 STEM classrooms to boost engagement and deepen learning. These activities offer teachers practical, hands-on strategies that enrich lessons with engineering design principles and real-world applications.
